What To Expect When You’re Giving Birth!

As a first time mom, I thought I did everything in my power to make sure that there were no surprises on delivery day.

My water broke at around 3:30 in the morning and I had been having contractions for a few hours before that! After dealing with all the pain and crampiness, I swear every carefully laid out plan went straight out the window. I originally wanted a natural birth, away from the hospital, but when those first labor pains hit? My husband and I grabbed everything that wasn’t tied down! I remember being so scared that something would happen to my baby or to me. I wanted the security that the hospital represented.

When I got to the hospital and realized I would be essentially on bed rest until I had my baby, I was so disappointed.

I started thinking about all the different things that I expected to happen. With the baby mama videos where they danced through labor, or the videos  where moms pushed their babies out in their own tubs. I just knew that I would be able to experience all of those things in my delivery process. Through it all though, I sat there in that hospital bed with just me and my husband and got it together! I took every medicine offered to me, and you know what? That’s absolutely ok! Huge kudos though to those who could go without!  It was 16 hours of blissful sleep and about 15 mins of pushing. It was honestly the best thing that could have happened for me. My baby was born into the most relaxing atmosphere and we could truly enjoy the process.

I guess I said all that to say, that you can’t really expect anything out of the birthing process! Of course you can hope and pray, and try to control some of the little things. At the end of the day though, your beautiful baby will be in your arms, however they get there! I have to say that the cliche is completely right. You won’t remember the pain or your birth plan once you begin life with your bundle of joy!

Happy Parenting 🙂

First off I’d just like to say, YES, every little piece of my L&D plan I had when I have birth to my son went right out the window! Nothing goes as expected lol! Which that’s totally okay and I had an amazing birth experience!
I came here to enter the give away you’re doing. I’m due in July with baby number two, a girl. My family and I are thrilled to welcome a little girl into our lives. I think I should win because I LOVE being a mom. I loved my last pregnancy and I love this pregnancy, but that being said my man and I believe two children is enough for our family. With this being my last baby I’d love to make the process of getting together all the little things easier. Regardless if I win or not I’m happy I stumbled upon your page and your blog. I’ll be a constant reader!

    1. I know right! It’s crazy! Congratulations to you and I want two kids too! Best of luck with the giveaway and the new addition!
